At 6.00 a.m. at CGWC Tyne Cot Cemetery and the Scottish Monument at Frezenberg, a ‘Lone Pipers’ will play ‘When The Battle’s Over’. Around the world, pipers will play this traditional tune that Scottish regiments played at the end of a battle to pay tribute to the fallen on the centenary of Armistice

2 p.m.: Ceremony ‘103 years Black Watch Corner – The Black Watch in Flanders’

On 11 November  1914 the 1st Battalion of the Black Watch Regiment played a crucial role during the securing of the Ypres Salient. To commemorate this fact, the Field Marshal Haig’s Own Pipes & Drums organise, together with the Black Watch Association, the municipality of Zonnebeke and the MMP 1917 a ceremony at the Black Watch monument.

3.30 p.m.: Remembrance at CWGC Tyne Cot Cemetery

Tyne Cot Cemetery, Vijfwegenstraat, Passendale

The music for the ceremony will be played by the West Yorkshire Police Band. The band represents the West Yorkshire Police Corps who lost 124 police men during the First World War. On 11 November, they commemorate these fallen soldiers. 36 are buried in Belgium and 5 of them are commemorated at the Tyne Cot Memorial.


  • The car parcs of the MMP1917 will not be accessible.
  • Please follow the instructions in the centre to the following car parks for individual visitors:
    • Church Zonnebeke
    • Football Field Zonnebeke
    • 'IJzerweg'
    • Town Square
    • Culinair Huis Vandeputte
  • Coaches can drop off and collect visitors on the square in front of the Zonnebeke church. In the interim, they must park in the Roeselarestraat (level with house number 29).
  • The parking area of CWGC Tyne Cot Cemetery will also be inaccessible. Please park along the 'Passendalestraat' or on the parking of 'Pasfrost' (Passendalestraat 80, 8980 Zonnebeke). From this parking on, shuttles (trains) are provided between 13h and 17h to the cemetery.
